Fernandõ Gastrotheque opened its doors in June 2018 with the aim of offering diners a space where people can enjoy the finer things in life — a phenomenal encounter with exceptional food and superior wines.
Since the start, Fernandõ’s commitment to excellence resulted in instant success and also in several awards. In 2021, we received the prestigious MICHELIN Guide. The continuous hard work paid dividends and in March 2023 was awarded the first MICHELIN star for restaurants in Malta.
This is only the beginning of our next chapter.

Our philosophy lies in acknowledging the responsibilities we restaurateurs carry. Which is that of reciprocating the time and money invested by our customers when visiting our restaurant. We have the responsibility to live up to and accede to the expectations that we have created. To achieve this we need a highly committed, talented, trained, and motivated team. We are in the entertainment industry and each member of the team is well prepared to put on his best show.

Kurt Micallef epitomizes unwavering commitment and focus in his culinary endeavors. Starting at 21, he honed his skills through prestigious culinary institutions and Michelin-starred stints. Kurt's dedication extends to continuous improvement and refinement of both his food and the teams growth.
My culinary journey began in Malta as I was exposed to different experiences at a number of local restaurants. I continued building and sharpening my skills at Michelin star level restaurants both in Scotland and more recently in Malta. Beyond my passion for the kitchen, I enjoy traveling, hiking and reading in my free time.
Auguste, a Lithuanian creative industry's specialist, discovered her passion for catering alongside her studies. After relocating to Malta, she delved into the world of fine dining at Fernando Gastrotheque, cultivating an interest in wines through WSET courses. Following an enriching stint in Lithuania under renowned sommelier Martynas Pravilionis, Auguste returns to Fernando Gastrotheque, equipped with knowledge, enthusiasm and eager to embark on new culinary endeavors.
